OK, I'll start. Here are the current plugins that dominate my keyboard rig: Omnisphere, Stylus RMX, Arturia Analog Factory, Native Instruments FM8, and Reason 5. Now that I've spilled the beans on my rig it's your turn!
The idea of this blog was born from the desire to share my greatest passions and hoping it would inspire creativity in the pursuit of deeper worship. Here you will find tutorials and how to's centering around the topic of technology in worship and the balance we must find when using it.

Poll: What's Your Favorite Synth Software
Software synths are now dominating the the studio and stage! They are cheaper and sound better than ever before and there are TONS of great companies out there to choose from! There are the big companies everyone knows about and there are small companies or even just an individual creating plugins in their basement that totally rock! The question is what are you using?

Finally found someone on my same wave length after stumbling over your blog, So refreshing :)
ReplyDeleteI have a mainly software synth setup which I use for worship in my local church as well as gigging in a christian band.
My setup is roughly an Arturia Analog Factory controller and software and some mainly free plugins hosted through mainstage. Alchemy is a favourite for soundscapes. I also have a couple of Violins / cellos from the Eastwest Play orchestra which are really good and which I also picked up free by filling in a questionnaire.
Added to that I have a retro Casio VL-1 and a Korg Kaossilator for good measure although the korg is used sparingly really.
Omnisphere is definitely on my future wish list as I mainly play pads / soundscapes.
Apologies for the long winded answer, but just finally I see you use Analog Factory as well, which tbh I haven't really explored properly. Have you any presets you would recommend for a worship environment? More pads type feel really rather than killer 70's lead synths of which I've found loads?
I stumbled across your blog and I'm definitely on the same page! I've been trying to step it up in our church worship scene. We're a medium-size church with talented musicians, so I needed to step it up with the keys.
ReplyDeleteI've been running Mainstage 2 (and am now trying Mainstage 3) with Omnisphere, controlled with an Akai MPK88. There's still a lot of things that I want to learn, but as a whole, its worked out fantastic! With the slides on the MPK, I'm running up to 8 layers of sounds mixed in and out, which adds a lot of interesting dynamics to our sounds. A lot more than our Korg or Yamaha can do.
I'm definitely looking for more suggestions and am always up for creating a better worship experience. If anyone has suggestions or feedback, let me know!
True life changing story of COPD.
ReplyDeleteMy father was a smoker for forty years. He started when he was a teenager in high school in the early 1950s, and continued to smoke about a pack a day until he quit in 1995. For years he thought "You know? 1 smoked for forty years, and I got away with it !" No. No he didn't. In 2014, nineteen years after he had quit smoking, he started noticing that he was having trouble with wheezing and feeling like he was out of breath a lot. He was diagnosed with early stage COPD. For the first year, he was able to get by with simply using rescue inhalers once in a while, but by late 2015 he needed supplemental oxygen. At first, he could get by on the lowest tank setting of 1 liter per minute, but as time went on he needed an Oxygen concentrator at home and he needed more and more oxygen. Last year (2020) he was up to the oxygen concentrator's highest setting of 5 liters per minute, even while just sitting down. By this time I had moved in with him to take care of him. Sometimes he would be gasping for air, and he would ask me "Son, is the machine on? I just can't get enough air" his condition worsened, our hearts melted every moment as we watched him gasp for breath,we were sure he would die any moment, by the time I started reading YouTube comments,I stumbled upon a comment that said there is an traditional herbal doctor called Dr Itua Herbal Center man that cures this ailment and other human diseases,I quickly contacted him and ordered the herbs with my father's money because he wouldn't need it anymore cos he would die any moment,I received the herbs in two days and from that moment he used the herbs, he began to feel better and better, few weeks later, he was completely cured, I thank you for reading this story about my father's experience with COPD. If you know someone who is a smoker, and you love them, please encourage them to quit. We love Daddy.all thanks to Dr Itua.
